Buddhist Think Exercise

For today’s link, I noticed an acronym online that is in sync with our past blog about taking a “buddhist” or mindful pause before speaking or acting. The “THINK” acronym is easy to remember and many of you may find it useful to remember.  We thank the person who originally posted this.

Also, I recently saw the musical Hamilton which had a few lines of advice from Aaron Burr to Alexander Hamilton creating a new spin on  the rule of “saying less” for leaders:

[BURR]

While we’re talking, let me offer you some free advice

Talk less

[HAMILTON]

What?

[BURR]

Smile more

[HAMILTON]

Ha

[BURR]

Don’t let them know what you’re against or what you’re for

[HAMILTON]

You can’t be serious

[BURR]

You wanna get ahead?

[HAMILTON]

Yes

[BURR]

Fools who run their mouths off wind up dead

It was a time of dueling but the concept is the same:  Saying less is a great leadership tool.
